| RBNU-0809-128a | Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) at IBO's Lucky Peak banding station on Sept. 5, 2008, by Sheri Robison. Jay Carlisle comments: "Adult, probably female. This RBNU was interesting because it was finishing growing its outer primaries (symmetric molt), but secondaries 5 & 6 (which are usually finishing as the outer primaries finish) are still old while secondary 4 is finishing it's growth. Thus, the secondaries were out of step with the primaries (relative to a normally molting bird), and the pattern was the same on both wings. |
